Work order
A work order is a documented instruction to perform specific work at a specific location, including scope, schedule and who is responsible.

A work order records what has to be done, where, by when and by whom. In field service software it usually becomes the job: the record that carries assignment, status, time entries, photos and completion notes.
A work order is not an estimate. The estimate prices proposed work; the work order authorizes performing it. Keeping them separate is what lets you compare what you sold against what you actually did.
