A punch list is the itemized set of remaining or corrective items that must be completed before a job is considered finished and accepted.

The punch list is written near the end of a job, usually during a walkthrough. Each item names a location and a defect or omission.
Tracking punch items on the job record rather than a text message is what keeps final payment from stalling: the customer can see what is outstanding and when it is cleared.
